Landing Platforms Hogwarts Legacy: Why They Are So Hard to Find

Landing Platforms Hogwarts Legacy: Why They Are So Hard to Find

You're flying high over the Scottish Highlands, the wind is whistling past your robes, and you’re scanning the horizon for a Merlin Trial or maybe a stray Demiguise statue. Then you see it—a colorful, ornate circular disc perched on a cliffside like a forgotten helipad for wizards. If you’ve spent any time in landing platforms Hogwarts Legacy hunts, you know the specific brand of frustration they bring.

Unlike almost every other collectible in the game, these platforms don't just pop up with a handy icon when you fly past. They are the ultimate "eyes-on" challenge. Most players finish the main story without even realizing they’ve missed half of them, mainly because the game doesn't hold your hand here. You actually have to look.

Why Landing Platforms Hogwarts Legacy Hunters Get Stuck

The biggest hurdle is the map. Or rather, the lack of information on it. You can zoom out all the way to see a regional tally—telling you, for instance, that you have 1 out of 2 platforms in Hogsmeade Valley—but it won't show you where that missing one is.

Honestly, it’s a bit of a throwback to old-school gaming where you had to actually explore. You can't just spam Revelio and expect a golden outline to appear from a mile away. You need to be relatively close, and even then, they blend into the scenery surprisingly well.

The "Secret" to Activating Them

I’ve seen people try to blast these things with Confringo or light them up with Incendio. Don't waste your magic. To "collect" a landing platform, you just need to land on it.

Specifically, you need to stand in the dead center. You'll know it worked because the platform will start to rotate, the braziers around the edge will ignite, and you’ll get a nice little XP notification. If it doesn't spin, you haven't ticked it off your list. Move around a bit until the gears start turning.

Where to Find All 20 Platforms

There are 20 of these scattered across the world. No, there aren't any inside Hogwarts or Hogsmeade. They are strictly a "Highlands" thing. Here is the breakdown of where to look if you're tired of aimlessly circling the clouds.

The Northern Regions

  1. North Ford Bog: This one is easy to miss because it’s tucked away. Head south from the Pitt-Upon-Ford Floo Flame. It’s sitting high up on a wooden structure.
  2. Hogsmeade Valley (Platform 1): Way up north, near the border of the bog. It's on a cliff near a bandit camp.
  3. Hogsmeade Valley (Platform 2): Look east of the Hogsmeade village. There’s a Merlin Trial nearby; the platform is perched on the ridge above it.
  4. North Hogwarts Region (Platform 1): Check the cliffs west of the East North Hogwarts Region Floo Flame. It’s nestled between the trees and the rocky face.
  5. North Hogwarts Region (Platform 2): This one is further west, near the Korrow Ruins. It’s on a small outcropping that overlooks the river.

The Central Highlands

South Hogwarts Region only has one. It’s south of Aranshire. If you find the dragon topiary (the one that moves!), the platform is on the cliff directly across from it.

Hogwarts Valley is a bit busier with three locations:

  • One is on top of a ruined building near the Diricawl den.
  • Another is north of the West Hogwarts Valley Floo Flame, sitting high on a ridge.
  • The third is near "The Mine's Eye." It’s actually at a lower elevation than you’d expect, tucked near some train tracks.

The Feldcroft Grind

Feldcroft is a big region, and it packs four platforms. You'll find one northeast of the North Feldcroft Floo Flame, and another right next to the South Feldcroft Floo Flame on a massive boulder. There's also one inside a ruined two-story building east of the Feldcroft hamlet—you actually have to land on the second floor. The last one in this area is on a cliff southwest of Irondale.

The Southern Reach: Beyond the Poidsear Coast

Once you pass through the goblin-infested tunnel to the southern half of the map, the search gets vertical.

  • Poidsear Coast: There is only one here. It’s on the very tip of a rock column sticking out of the water near the Marunweem Ruins.
  • Marunweem Lake: You’ll find one on the Marunweem Bridge (the side opposite the Floo Flame). The second is on a cliff south of the Coastal Mine.
  • Manor Cape: Both are near the coast. One is on a cliff north of the West Manor Cape Floo Flame, hidden behind the ruins of a manor. The other is on a jagged rock sticking out of the ocean further south.
  • Cragcroftshire: This one is basically a landmark. It’s on a giant rock pillar in the sea, south of the Cragcroft hamlet.
  • Clagmar Coast: The final platform is southeast of Clagmar Castle. It’s on a grassy ledge that faces the ocean.

What Do You Actually Get?

Is it worth the flight time? Well, if you’re a completionist, yes. But the actual rewards are purely cosmetic. You are working toward the Quidditch Captain set.

The gear unlocks in tiers within your Challenges menu. You don't get the items automatically; you have to go into the "Exploration" tab and claim them manually.

  • 2 Platforms: Quidditch Captain’s Uniform
  • 6 Platforms: Quidditch Captain’s Helmet
  • 12 Platforms: Quidditch Captain’s Gloves
  • 20 Platforms: Quidditch Captain’s Cape

The outfit looks great, honestly. It has that classic, heavy-padded leather look that makes you feel like you should be out chasing a Golden Snitch instead of hunting field guide pages.

If you want to wrap this up quickly, do it at night. The braziers on the platforms aren't lit until you land on them, but the platforms themselves are much easier to spot against the dark terrain when you're using Revelio.

Another trick? Fly high. Like, really high. The higher you are, the more ground you can cover with your eyes. Most of these are on the "top" layer of the map—the peaks of hills and the roofs of ruins. If you stay low in the valleys, you’ll never see them.

Also, keep an eye out for balloons. Frequently, the developers placed landing platforms near the end of a balloon-popping set. It’s like a "congratulations, you finished the race, now park here" reward.

A Quick Reality Check

It is a bit weird that we get all this Quidditch gear in a game where the sport was famously "cancelled" by Headmaster Black. Some fans find it a little mocking. But hey, at least you’ll look the part while you’re raining Confringo down on a group of Ashwinders.

The most important thing to remember is the regional counter. If you are stuck at 19/20, open your map and hover over each region name. It will tell you exactly which zone is still hiding a platform from you. This narrows your search area from the entire Highlands down to one specific corner of the map.

Next Steps for the Completionist

Once you've touched down on all 20 landing platforms Hogwarts Legacy has to offer, don't forget to open your Field Guide. Navigate to the Challenges tab, then Exploration, and scroll down to the bottom. Click on each completed tier to actually add the Quidditch Captain gear to your collection. From there, you can go to your Gear menu and use the "Change Appearance" option to equip your new look without losing your current stats.

Now that your Quidditch kit is complete, you might want to head back to Mr. Weekes at Spintwitches in Hogsmeade. If you haven't finished the broom trials yet, that new cape will look pretty sharp as you're beating Imelda Reyes' latest record.
