Honestly, Sue Storm is a bit of a weird one. When NetEase first dropped the Fantastic Four into the mix back in Season 1, everyone expected the Invisible Woman to be this sneaky, back-stabbing assassin. Instead, she’s a Strategist. She’s the anchor. If you're playing her like a budget Sombra, you're basically throwing the match for your team.
Most players see the name Invisible Woman and think they should be permanent ghosts. Wrong. In Marvel Rivals, Sue is about presence—not absence. She’s the glue. She’s the literal force field keeping your reckless Duelists alive when they dive too deep into the enemy backline.
The Kit: It’s Not Just About Hiding
Let's look at how she actually plays. Her primary fire, Orb Projection, is a bit like a lethal yo-yo. You launch these force field orbs that pierce through heroes. They deal damage on the way out and heal your buddies on the way back. It’s a 150 m/s projectile, which sounds fast until you're trying to hit a Spider-Man swinging at Mach 10. You have to lead your shots.
Her Guardian Shield is the real star. You can project a massive barrier onto a teammate. If you see your Hulk getting melted, you slap that shield on him. What's cool is you can "recall" it. If the shield takes a beating, hit the F key to pull it back and restore its value. It’s dynamic. It’s not a "set it and forget it" ability like some other shields in the game.
Moving Like a Ghost
Yeah, she has invisibility. Obviously. But it’s a passive called Covert Advance. You go invisible after being out of combat for five seconds. It’s great for repositioning or escaping a losing fight, but the second you attack, the veil drops.
- Veiled Step: This is her double jump. It gives you a tiny burst of invisibility. It’s a juke. Use it to dodge a Punisher hook or a Hela dagger.
- Psionic Vortex: This is her "get off me" tool. It creates a cylindrical field that pushes or pulls enemies. If a Namor is getting too close for comfort, you shove him off a ledge.
- Invisible Boundary: This is a localized zone that hides allies and heals them over time. Enemies walking through it get slowed by 55%. It’s basically a "No Entry" sign for the enemy team.
Why the Season 6 Nerfs Actually Matter
We just hit Season 6 today, January 16, 2026, and the patch notes weren't exactly kind to Sue. While Deadpool is hogging the spotlight as the new triple-role hero, the devs quietly toned down some of the Strategists. Invisible Woman took a hit alongside Gambit and Rocket Raccoon.
The devs felt her crowd control was a bit too oppressive in high-tier play. If you've ever been stuck in a perpetual loop of being pulled and pushed by a skilled Sue player, you know the frustration. The nerf makes her timing more critical. You can't just spam your CC and expect to win every 1v1 anymore. You have to be precise. You have to be the "anchor" the devs intended her to be.
The "Wedded Harmony" Meta
If you aren't running Sue with Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic), you're missing out on one of the strongest synergies in the game. Their Team-Up ability, Fantasti-Force, lets Sue channel psionic might into Reed. It gives him massive damage resistance.
Reed is already hard to kill because of his "rubbery" physics and high health pool. With Sue backing him up, he becomes a literal wall. It’s the husband-and-wife duo that defines the "brawl" meta.
The Malice and Prism Parade Factor
Can we talk about the skins for a second? The Malice skin is a fan favorite because it leans into Sue’s darker comic history. It just looks mean. But with the Season 6 Battle Pass that launched today, we got the Prism Parade costume.

It’s got these vivid VFX for her ultimate, Ultimate Ability, which is a massive healing ring that turns the whole team invisible. In the heat of a 6v6 team fight, seeing those rainbow-prism force fields is actually pretty helpful for tracking where your Sue is positioned.
How to Actually Win with Sue Storm
If you want to climb out of Gold and into those Diamond ranks, stop trying to be a DPS. You are a Strategist. Your job is to stay alive and keep your Guardian Shield moving.
- Prioritize the Shield: Don't just leave it on the tank. If your Luna Snow is getting dove by a Black Panther, move the shield to her immediately.
- Use the Orbs for Piercing: Position yourself so your primary fire hits both an enemy and an ally. It’s a "two birds, one stone" mechanic.
- The Ultimate Isn't Just for Healing: Use it to initiate. Turning your entire team invisible while they can still shoot is a massive tactical advantage. It’s an ambush tool.
- Learn the Pull: Use Psionic Vortex to pull retreating enemies back into your team. It’s the difference between an enemy escaping with 10 HP and a confirmed elimination.
Sue Storm is complex. She’s not just "the girl who disappears." She’s a high-skill ceiling hero that rewards players who have great game sense and even better positioning.
To get the most out of her in the current Season 6 meta, start practicing the "shield swap" in the practice range. Get used to the timing of recalling the barrier before it breaks. If you can master the shield management while landing those piercing orbs, you'll become the most valuable player on any team. Check your Hero Proficiency tab—those new animated Lord Icons for Sue are going to take a while to grind, so you might as well start now.
