side view mockup

on: February 04, 2010, 07:49:12 pm
Trying some ideas...

The background is really challenging for me. Flat 2d is kinda boring, so I'd like a little
more depth. No prizes for where I got the guy's style ...

Thoughts?

the last row of mountains (furthest from us) could get lighter.
i don't know what you have planned for the foreground, but it definitely needs something.
also, about the items, there is a lot of outlines (i'm a hypocrite for saying that :P)
he hobbles and hobbles.

Yup, you should decide for a style and stick with that. Add outlines on the man, or removee them from the items (i'd suggest this one  ;) )

Also, items are at a higher resolution and with more details than the player, doesn't look nice. You should fix this too.

Also you could have mentioned that the player sprite is from Flashback, so that no on assumes you made it. Read the RULES
There are no ugly colours, only ugly combinations of colours.
