Favorite Non-pixel Art

on: March 17, 2006, 05:31:27 am
What is your favorite non-pixel-art art by anyone?

I really admire the colors and lighting of this painting by John Singer Sargent:

Thomas Cole is also a favorite of mine.  Some of his landscapes:

Yesindeedy, his stuff is very nice. Craig Mullins' stuff is very nice as well. Great style.
Everybody knows Feng Zhu

My two favorite artists of all time happen to be M.C. Escher and Salvador Dali. < Greatness.  8)

Edit: whoops, I meant Feng Zhu. Fixed.

Ashley Wood, because I love his style, and David Choe, because he is incredibly versatile.

I too, love their works. M.C. Escher has become somewhat an icon in illusionary art. Appeals to me on both aesthetic and technical levels.
I don't know, there are so many good artists out there...

Dali and Escher are two of my favorites as well.  I have books and books of both of their works, and Escher's lectures in transcript.

I tend not to favor artists so much as individual pieces, however other artists that moved me enough times for me to remember them are Caravaggio, Albrecht Durer, and a few of the first american portrait painters (we're talking like colonial times here)
