Assuming the light source is right above the top-middle part of the banner, uh, I'd say it's pretty cool. You really should take some of those other color tones and experiment with the *supposed* light sources and secondary light sources.

Thanks. Can you give me an example of secondary light sources?

Methinks he actually wanted to see an example of secondary lightsourcing.  baccaman21's avatar is an excellent example of secondary lightsourcing:

I'm sure there are lots of examples around, but that was one that immediately came to mind.

That's a pretty nice looking banner, except for the fact that the right side is very obviously mirrored.  The rivets and blocks on the left are lit from the top-right, while the same on the right are lit from the top-left.  Same thing with the pole coming out the bottom, the shine on the square the blocks are in, etc.  So yea, fix the lightsource on the right part.  Good luck with this.

I think it's a good base, the shaping and everything -- should make a nice banner. The colors look very NES to me, which I think is good too -- oldschool. My only problem with it is that it feels flat -- I think it needs more depth.

For example, I made a 5-minute edit of the buttons (hope you don't mind), to show them to look a little deeper. I completely killed the NES feel, but I hope it gives the idea.

See, I used more colors to push it up a few levels. Notice how the highlight changes it's position by a pixel or two based on the position of the button -- by moving where the light reflects, it looks like the angle to the light changes, which also helps the depth a little.

With a bit more time, I'm sure it could be done even better.

Hope this helps. :)

Pretty cool, I'm a bit lost at the purple AA around the text. I might look better if your replaced it with a more golden color.

You still have the inconsitent lightsource due to mirroring.  Here's an edit to show what I mean:

I changed the rivets and buttons on the right part to match the lightsource on the rest of the piece.  The rest of the right part needs to be fixed; the shading on the metal pole and the highlights on the main block should probably be changed.

Heh, I see some differences. Light inconsistency is important. Adding more colors to the nes feel can give it a snes feel right?
