Do you feel a particular need to make it very cube-like and floow the perfect lines?

I feel like in this type of projection, it's really not that hard to make (or fudge) good-looking constructions that are more appealing.  For examples, just take another look at your source material.
A mistake is a mistake.
The same mistake twice is a bad habit.
The same mistake three or more times is a motif.

Also, I think it's a bit harder to avoid the boxy look when the sprite sizes are bigger.
