AA and dithering practice.

on: March 14, 2006, 04:08:52 am

Nothing too special, but I need to work on my AA especially. Comments and critiques are very welcome.

Generally good aa and nice ordered dither.

I made a little edit to show you the problems.
The 2 darker blue-ish colours are not spaced out enough in your version.
If your colours are so close that you can't see a proper difference in 1x and 2x there is no point.

In some places the colours were not used to aa as much as possible/needed.

When aaing lines, don't be afraid to "break the line" with a single aa colour.
Compare the line in the lower part of the L in my edit with yours and you will see what I mean.
You kinda made it in the vertical line but not in the horizontal one.

You also have some ditaac (dither to aa clash) going on, where the dither touches aa of the same colour in a way that is a but jarring to the image.

The second edit is the same and just a colourswap for fun :D

Hope this helped a bit, keep on trucking.
There are no ugly colours, only ugly combinations of colours.

I decided to go a completely different direction. Thanks for the good pointers though, Mr. Ptoing.

ptoing's right, this is fun.

the new look works, just be careful around the edges where you have light glinting off, you're close to going overboard and losing the shape (nitpick)

I'm just wild about the hues.
