postcard motives #0.5

I started working on the first of 3 (or more) possible postcard motives for the place I currently work at. I went for a clean, dither- and aa-less look as that's what fits best for print in my opinion. This here is half-done, I'll be adding some characters to it tomorrow, but until then, feel free to c+c. I'm afraid I also didn't pay much attention to color-conservation, since the people here who run this place rather have that it looks nice and sells than be an intricate piece of pixel art by Pixelation standards as well as that the cards gotta go to print soon :(



The aspect is that of the postcard, but I'll resize the bus so that it will have some more room on the sides

I also tried making an animation from the undo buffer, but it crashed pro motion heh. Here's two progress shots for those interested:

I just have to say, very nice work. Really shows how proper use of vanishing points can make amazing 3D artwork.

Really nice. Is the yellow'ish colour cast to keep with the faded photo style?

can I suggest one thing? Why not put strictly ONE POINT of aa at every jaggy, just so it's a *little* more pixel art. Not so much where it's trying to pretend not to have jagged edges but enough to convey to the viewer that 'this is how the principle works in digital art'?

Missing some shades for the smooth AA, but this might be useful I suppose:

(not hand done, so some errors..)

If you need a truecolour version with smoother AA let me know.

No offense happymonster but did you actually read his post?

Very nice perspectival work, what format will it be printed on? Horizontal or Vertical?

So I thought with a tight deadline before printing he would probably go with the original, but it might be useful to have an AA version to compare with printing (and without the time of doing it all himself). That is why I said "this might be useful".

That's nice of you!

I remember a few days ago that one of my professors told me that for printing we always need a 50% treshhold bitmap (atleast for blackwhite)

Aaing for such a small resolution I believe, wont look so cool :O, more pixelated

happymonster: Haha, yay! Very cliparty :). Also, I think the auto-aaed version looks great! Your own algorithm?

helm: Will try, that shouldn't take too long, and I'm not the most handy with proper aa anyway ;)

Oh, and I've actually just found a backup of the progress animation, but it's clipped at the point of the first progress shot in the first post (at 2500 odd frames :) ), so all the detail work is lost on it. Preparing it shortly.
