Tiled BG for competition [UPDATED]

on: March 12, 2006, 12:22:41 am

C&C appreciated. So far, I think 11 colors (Far below limit).
Update:

It's still WIP. I defined the roof a bit better, angled the edges of the paint, and experimented with the tile arrangement.

I see an image, and a pretty impressive one. You managed very decent use of color to make it seem rich with just those 11.

You have some angles that don't match and with such a strong angular trend, anything that doesn't match it really throws things out of whack.

For instance, the angle of the roof-tops needs to be lowered. The traffic lines should be angled at the ends to match the rest of the image.

Also, the trees (I assume) in the background look more like green fire, so that could use a different pattern.

Nice texture on the pavement, and it's courageous of you to waste tiles on details like a bottle and paper. :)

They aren't trees. They're supposed to be a surrealish backdrop "sky" that really shouldn't exist due to the sharp perspective. (Hey, I blame Double Dragon)
Believe me, I'll be wasting the other....27 tiles on random crap like doors, signs, garbage cans, and perhaps even cars.
The angles theoretically are correct, according to the perspective, excluding the yellow paint on the roads (I double-checked). They do, however, appear strange. The roof could be higher, but then I'd use up 2 more tiles... heh.

EDIT: I realize that you thought my roof was flat. I should probably make it more apparent that it's a raised roof. I really don't want to use 2 more tiles to make the roof higher... eh, what can I say? I'm a greedy bastard :D

Update with more stuff. There are quite a few tiles left to make, and two are WIP, as you can see.

And Andy, I have no idea why you can't see it.  ???
