[wip] MC Escher - Relativity

on: October 30, 2009, 07:10:31 am
Hi, thought i would post my wip for ppl that may be interested in orthographic (iso)pixelart.

MC Escher's Relativity has never been pixeled that i know of, i don't plan to just make an orthographic duplicate of this art but take some creative licence.

Original "Relativity" by MC Escher

This is how i figured out the scale and dimensions of everything Mr Escher made it relatively easy.

WIP1
Using the basic building blocks at the bottom and a lot of copy paste this is stage1 complete. Colours are just place holders.

If you stare at it a while it inverts and flips because of the strict iso grid and the ambiguous nature of the this projection - freaks your brain out after a while   :)

WIP2
This is where i am up to atm just filling in the arched curves and a few details.

No colours or even light direction is final yet.

I use Photoshop CS4, everything is separated on layers atm, will flatten for the final pass.

Plan:

Details
Colour
Shadows
Textures

Very interesting thing you're taking on there

Best of luck, at first.

You should publish the outline in the outline thread for others to fill maybe...  :y:

Would love to give it a try coloring hehe...

How much detail will go into it? Will it be monochrome?

I plan to make it very detailed, thinking ornate brickwork and masonry - but i don't want to get ahead of my self :)

Wont be monochrome.
