Priorities in this sprite feel off, definitely.

Some details that are important for conveying information on a simplified scale, such as exaggerated facial features are lacking, and instead you've rendered muscles on his torso extensively, but no creases on his pants or whatever. Definitely feels off, soften up those muscles, ok?

His right arm seems way too short.

Hey dude, I made an edit.

Despite all the elaborate shading and colors your guy still looks kinda flat. Try suggesting depth more with the color usage. Don't necessarily make sprites with intricate and detailed lineart as base, since it'll usually end up flat and boring. Take a more painterly approach maybe? Blocks of color, from big brush to small brush, all that jazz. Try to bring out the characteristics of whatever you're creating. Wear sunscreen.

Looking forward to the updates!
