Happily (isometric buildings)

on: September 12, 2009, 12:39:28 am
(Sorry, it's almost 3 AM, so I am not sure how clear my writing is...)
Last summer I was dreading my last year of High School... so I came up with something stupidly happy to keep things bright: Happily. I'm not sure what it is. It's a game idea. A mockup. Practice. It's even a story. I won't bore you with all the fluffy details. Anyway... since it's about exactly a year ago, nostalgia made me start working on it again. I want to make more uncommon buildings...

But first, I want to improve the old ones. I started with one of the houses... but after about... it's been 2 hours now... it's rather obvious I haven't made a lot of progress. In fact, I am quite sure I used far too many colours on the roof by now. I've been experimenting with more realistic shapes (as opposed to straight square iso stuff), but I'm afraid it hasn't been going too well. I'd love some advice on that... and I need some hardcore critique to make this look awesome.

Edit: For comparison, my work file (with the old stuff): [here]

It looks like the roof is sinking, but I think its kinda cute. You could probably get away with it, but I'd try and straighten out those tiles so they don't curve so much.

The stones forming the right edge are completely off.

Yeah I know... but I can't figure out how to fix them. Suggestions?

Quick paint over. Kinda rough but you should get the idea. Yours currently is some paradox like MC Escher.

Thanks! I'll work something out using that. I'll update later.

Sorry for the double post. Here's a version with the new lines.
