HalfLife?

on: August 26, 2009, 11:32:24 pm
Started working on a demake of HalfLife for the Sega MasterSystem ...
So far I've only used 8 colors , which seems kinda' poor since the SMS can display 32 colors on-screen.  :-\
I've asked around and some people preffer the simplistic style , but to be sure I was going to ask for C&C

looks like a cool thing.

currently your freeman is pretty blocky, i'd try something more like:

i don't know what the sprite restrictions are, though.

I kinda like the blocky version better.

@robotwo:
I like the bottom two pictures you linked more then the top right one.

Yeah , the bottom two are more aimed towards looking like corridors while the upper right one is the armored structure around the door from the "scanning-beam room"

One of the things about halflife that I love is the transition between bright and dark areas. However, the way you fade into black with the walls makes it seem as if going to a lighter color would make things look unnatural. If you made things more basic without setting yourself up with certain lighting right away it could help when youre in a bright room...For example, the Black Mesa starting rooms.
