Excellent resource for anatomy studies

on: August 05, 2009, 11:14:47 pm
For those of us who create muscle babies and want to tighten up our templates. The greatest reference I found so far.

http://www.mpi-inf.mpg.de/resources/scandb/

It's a research website that offers pictures of different body types, both male and female. You can use it to find the perfect anatomy reference for your template, wether it's an old, skinny or fat guy/gal.

The viewer is a bit awkward, so here's the images behind the screens: http://www.mpi-inf.mpg.de/resources/scandb/gallery/

A sample animation of what to expect

I'm going to try to get some more different angles to work with by exporting the models into mathlab (links on the page), but it's great to start with. There's 115 different body shapes to have fun with.

It looks cool, but the pictures are a bit tiny. I hope they publish some higher res pictures.

They're large enough if you have some experience in anatomy (so you can fill in the blanks), but yeah, if you really want to study them you'll need to get math lab and request all the models, etc.

I often use this one:
http://www.posemaniacs.com

It also has alot of poses, you can turn them around, and there's a great 3d viewer too. [hands for drawing tool]

Yeah, posemaniacs is handy, but you only have two body types and limited rotation.

Yea I usually use pose maniacs or http://www.3d.sk/ (note this is somewhat nsfw as it has real naked people) i know a couple more with real people that you can spin around and stuff, they are on my other computer though.

Ah here it is http://www.human-anatomy-for-artist.com/ (also NSFW) you have to pay for most of their content though.
