on: July 11, 2009, 10:46:47 am
This is for the Pixel Joint Weekly challenge.

Newest:

Oldest:

- Arm and hand are super wonky.... anatomy crits would be appreciated.
- Shading the breasts???
- I think I'm going to change the irises of the eyes completely.... Done!
- I'm having trouble with the mouth.
- Colors are not necessarily final. (Suggestions welcome.)

Thanks in advance! :)

Well, sorry this is going to be short, I've got to run. But I just wanted to comment on her cleavage. It looks to me like it goes a bit too high and goes in a bit too deep. Like she's got a sunken chest cavity and huge boobs sprouting out of it. Also, watch your perspective, her shoulders look to be straight across but her left armpit looks like it would be a lot higher than the right. Or alternatively her breast actually is growing out of her shoulder. And as for the lips I'd try a "cupid's bow" kind of look. Do and image search for that and you should come up with a lot of good references. Cheers!  ;D

Thanks, Pawige! That's a lot of good anatomy advice. I'll get right on it!

Update:

Tried to fix the anatomy issues Pawige mentioned. Maybe I didn't take it far enough? In any case, I think I'll have to get back to that after the contest because I'm running short on time... :ouch:

I'm not sure how I should highlight the hair if at all.... thoughts?

PS: You may have noticed, new colors are modeled after Haruko from FLCL. :)

got halfway through an anatomy scribble when i was getting annoyed with my mouse and accidentally converted to jpeg..:

A mistake is a mistake.
The same mistake twice is a bad habit.
The same mistake three or more times is a motif.

At the moment her top is cut into two pieces because of those lines you've made around her breasts. It's like a piece of plastic is stuck to the front of her top as boob protection. I would suggest getting rid of that line entirely, and making a shape using shading. Also the bottom of the top could follow her body shape better, at the moment it defies what's really going on. That's all i can help with atm.

more construction crits. Don't work with framing a body until you've drawn the outline of all of it so you know it works. Overimpose on your version in your pixel app to study the differences. I'd go into more detail but I'm in a hurry

There's lots of issues with what you're trying to do not being compatible with your current level of anatomical knowledge, but stick with it and do brave studies and when it's done not only will this particular piece look as you wanted it but als you'll have learned a lot about physiology etc
