What is your intention with this? What is your goal and what have you drawn? Please be more explanative from now on, for I doubt anyone to be able to help you like this.

Mmm, sorry, I come from a game dev forum where it's generally pretty obvious what the graphics are to be used for.

Either way, these are just little mock up GUI's. I was trying to figure out the whole picking the right colors and what not, since apparently this image looks like shiz.

I just need help i suppose with, color scheme's and contrast. And well, anything else that looks like crap as well...

Heh, Dr. D should know what I'm doing hopefully! :D

Sorry, but I don't see the point in CC'ing this, it's just an empty and very basic UI skin. It doesn't even have buttons or menus. Without knowing anything about what it's going to be used for I can't even begin to advise you on it, nor can anyone else. Not in context anyway. You need more content. There's nothing here . . .

I'll take that to mean that as of so far, there isn't anything clashing that just makes it look like shit.

But, recently tried to add in buttons. from left to right, we have
1) a head, for the character stats screen
2) a shield and sword (barely visible), for the characters equipment screen
3) a backpack, for the players inventory
4) a pick axe and hammer, for the players skills menu
5) 3 heads, for the social menu (PM's, friends list, etc)
6) a list on paper, for the options menu
7) and on the far right, the exit button

If this GUI was used, it'd be for a 2D, 45 degree view, ORPG game. (Anybody know Mirage Source?). Theme, and exactly what type of game is unknown, i was just practicing layout, colors, and contrast.

This enough info? Not sure what else to say, there wasn't much behind it, i just start messing. Most of my art is of a simple, basic design.

And to the picture!

hello

your grass tile looks too much like stone. do grassy shapes. grass is thin, bladed, has direction, grows in bunches.

use light and shadow, use a range of colours for the same element (here blue-green, yellowgreen, grey, purple if you like, anything you can make work - just not the same green at different brightness/saturation.)

This is preference, really, but I think 32-tiles are exhausting - halving your tilesize gives similar results in a quarter of the time.

sometimes you can get away with doing a bunch of variations of the same tile, but it's not much easier than doing up a couple different tiles - and that's prettier, usually.
