Hello, everybody!
Similar to how a lot of new spriters on the board recently seem to be programmers-turned-artists, I've been trying to learn the intricacies of spriting for a long time now, and never got anywhere. Recently, thanks to the stir that Cave Story brought about, I've been attempting to make more NES-style sprites, but I admit - I know nothing about restrictions or graphical limitations! (My programming is limited to Java, basic C++, and GML for the time being).
I figured now was the best time to learn some graphical techniques, especially since a lot of good critiquing seems to get done on the boards. I can't promise that I can actually improve in the leaps and bounds that others seem to do, however...
This is a spritesheet for a game I was hoping to make a while back. It's a back-view of a Tatsunoko-style superhero.
Any suggestions for improving my technique?
