New Monitor shows half pixels (Help?)

on: January 31, 2006, 01:19:57 am
I just got a new PC the other day. It runs everything pretty sweet except whenever i draw a line and zoom in on it, it shows icky half pixels above and below the line. Also it messes with dither and makes it look completely outta whack. Monitor is one of those flat panel jobs. It shows real good colour its just the half pixels that have me worried.
Anyone know a fix? increase res? decrease res? buy a new monitor?
thanks Dogmeat!

@indigo: thanks man, just re-checked the box and saw that the res was meant to be at 1280x1024... which seems huge after coming from my old 800x600.
thanks Dogmeat!

I'm curious --
is the display relatively taller on a flat panel versus a CRT?
1280x1024 has an aspect ratio of 5:4 ( 5 *256 == 1280, 4 * 256 == 1024).
On a CRT, that means the pixels will be taller than they are wide.
Is your flatpanel display actually 5:4 in aspect ratio, so that the pixels are still square?

If you insist on being pessimistic about your own abilities, consider also being pessimistic about the accuracy of that pessimistic judgement.

My pixels seem square. If anything the are wider then they are tall. I could measure the screen if you really want to get to the bottom of it.
