Face_Rampage

on: March 19, 2009, 06:43:28 pm
EDIT::

New::

OLD::

I need help getting this to look better, and tips on improving the
animation.

I think the light reflection from the fire looks wrong.
What can i do to fix it up??

UPDATE::OLD
I reworked the earth.

UPDATE:: NEW

Ok,

I fixed the earth a little more,
Made the Face move a pixel so it's not static,
Blended the fire reflection to the green color of the face more,
And made a second fire reflection strength.

I doesn't really make sense that the laser moves and the gun doesn't. Overall it would probably look best if the whole face rotated.

Animating the back of the evil ball guy face/head thing, where the flames in the back light it up a bit, would probably make it feel more alive. I also think the transition between his natural color and the light from the flames needs a little more smoothing out.

The Earth looks a little too 'blobby' in my opinion, I don't think it catches light like that. I'm not really sure though.. It just looks a little odd to me.

Like Tuna said, the head, or the gun should rotate along with however the beam is rotating (and vice versa).
But I don't think you should make him wobble, it would just look odd that way.

What I suggest instead is a static, much stronger and powerful beam, than you have now, charging up and smashing right through the Earth. If you can convey a powerful build-up to the beam being charged, and then blasting it through the Earth... You've got gold.

Seconding everything Dr D said.

The flames animation doesn't look too good either, it's very laggy. Try to make it smoother.
Also you could make the lighting on his back animated, so it gets stronger when the flames are big and dimmer when the flames are small.
Maybe it would look better if he moved one pixel up/down, so it isn't completely static.

How about animating the lighting?
Like, when the fires are bigger, the lighting on the back is stronger.

It flickers too much, use those extra frames to smoothen out the animation.

You need timing and spacing. When you animate something, say two actions, you need a breakdown in between them to show how it got there. What the breakdown does is have the power to show you if it moved fast, if it moved slow, if it curved, if it rotated, ...etc. Anyways, what you should do is have at least 3 frames with the middle frame favoring one frame more than the other. That way, it will give it a feeling of timing, not just on and off. It will make it feel more real. I hope this summary helps.

UPDATE:
Ok I made a third frame.

NEW::

OLD::

I will add the up and down movement again.........

But Thats gonna take some time because moving all the stars back into place
when i move the Face one pixel takes forever.
