RadPix TCG Collab(?)

on: February 07, 2009, 10:30:19 pm
Well, the coder of my other project is doing, well other things,  :'( so in the meantime...
I tried thinking what the easiest type of game to make would be.
The conclusion was a Trading Card Game, because they are usually made by multiple artists.
Or at least magic the gathering was, and I always liked that it was different styles.

I've thought about opening a collaboration for this project, so if anyone wants to jump right on in that's awesome.  :y:

Anyways, I want to make a tcg where the heros are us pixelers.
And the minions are our creations, so the sky is the limit.  :D
You could collect other peoples creations and use them in your deck but 2 or more of them would be needed for their bonus to work.

I haven't come up with the rules yet, but basically your Pixeler would have a set life and unique ability and a bonuses.
Cards would be drawn and used to try and take off said life.
We could come up with different types of items, buffs, jpeg cards that each deck would have to have.

Here's the template, I originally found the first 64x64 pic I could and -ViC- new pixels was put in as placeholder.

And on with my contribution.
I'll probably work on some more templates, atm I think the name box may be too small.

Haha, this looks pretty cool, I might have a go at my character later on.

It'd be cool if there were also various cards that were pixel-related, like an attack card called "dither," and stuff along those lines, haha.

If you could get this big enough maybe it could be a Pixelation project..!

I've been getting some good feedback on this idea on MSN. :]

->

So yea basically anyone who wants to make a portrait for their card can go ahead, it can be any style I don't care isometric, sprite sized or a normal portrait.
Since we don't have any rules yet it's kind of pointless to go making random cards, but I don't see how making pixeler cards could hurt.
You don't have to go out of the frame.

It looks like he has fangs, I would also recommend adding shading and stuff to the card.

I'm not going to bother working on the template of the card until the rules are put into place.
Because the layout could still change at any time.

As for the "fangs" I have piercings. :/
Hopefully blue looks more metallic, I'm also noticing my jaw is a bit square.
Also not sure about the ear.

yes but piercings at this size/res are pretty insignificant and wouldn't show I think.

btw if this takes off I'll gladly do one for myself. I suggest instead of abstract rules you just make a text box below where there is a little description or flavour text much like Magic and then underneath there are made-up power rules like 'tap 2 indexes (our of 16, naturally) to destroy all cards that show selout" or whatever. Instead of playable, actual game, just funny stuff, I mean.

Good point Helm.
And I'd be more then happy to see this get going. :D
The goal of it is hopefully to actually make like a game out of them.
Then we can play against each other with our creations.
So that'd require the rules to be thought out, more then likely the card design will be replaced.
So with that I drop the card design at the moment, since it can change as the rules come into place.

Anyone who wants to join in you just have to work on a 64x64 canvas.
And just post it here.

-->-->
What about if I put more piercings, do they not read as fangs now?

fooling around with colors.

Heya!
I made some edits of the structure of the face and played with the color (more of my taste than help)

-> ->

Mostly I tried to fix some that seemd off like the cheeks and eyes. Tried to resolve the fang problem too.

Solid, thanks for the edit I'll be sure to glance over it.

I whipped this up I hope it makes sense, now people don't have to start contributing but if you want to work on your portrait go on ahead.  :y:

I had started two others but I don't like either of them.

Yeah, I doubt I'm going to be able to resist this  ;)

I have to say though, I think the canvas size for images could be bigger than 64x64 (sort of more like Helm's). Also the font could be smaller to cram more flavour in.  :)

This can be done, and it would only take 30 temporary dedicated pixelers.

10 pixelers per faction
3 factions - RED, GREEN, BLUE
1 artist, 4 creation cards/per entry 64x64 canvas.
40 creations/per faction
150 cards total.

This is not including the technique cards.
This is just covering all the attacker type cards.
I've decided to ditch the "3 artist" rule, now we're taking the reigns as leaders in combat.
