[WIP] game sprites - tank and dialog portraits

on: December 18, 2008, 08:22:42 pm
Here are some sprites I'm working on for my game, probably going to be 320X240 (doubled) resolution.
They reference a project of mine called snugsuds, www.snugsuds.com and I'm looking for C+C if you please.
The tank body and turret are separate to allow for strafing fire.
You can drive in any direction while firing in any other.
Movement is in four directions and the animation shows all iterations of driving/firing combinations.

The portraits are there to help the player know what character is talking.
I'm trying to find a balance between keeping the dialog boxes small, but also readable and in an eye pleasing format.

A baddie:

Wow you've put done yourself!
I firstly, think that your movement animation is awesome and can find no flaw.

As for those portraits, they are fine and I will confirm that they are readable with out distracting the eye in any way possible.
The game looks awesome so far, I look and demand that there be updates

Thanks for the nice words :)
Here is a baddie.
If it reads as a living, moving turd pile, then I am on the right track.
Will be making the up and down sprites for him too.
Please C+C with anything that you see on this or the other sprites.

I really love that, it looks so smooth and glossy, and .. cool. I don't have any critique, just praise. Lol.

The only thing i can see is its nose and hood seem to be more on the left side of its head.
Also that black line on its front is a bit long, like its not just a fold but like a mouth, unless of course it is a mouth (which would be awesome)

Apart from that these are great.

Thanks.
I knocked back the black line a couple pixels.

Not sure how to address the hood and snout, maybe this downward facing sprite will calrify their positions a little.
Also, please C+C on it too.
