Stop right there!
You're paying far too much attention to colours and blending etc.
You need to focus on volumes first. Polish comes later.
Also, 15 colours is way unneeded!
I made an edit for you. It uses 8 colours.

I also fixed some anatomy issues, but I'm not exactly a leading authority when it comes to anatomy  :D

hey

Hmm, I think it looks far too purple, and still not enough contrast.

I also advise you todo some sketches, try draw yourself from many different perspectives as possible, and not just strait on. Get to know the volumes that make up your face, maybe you can also try paint with different lighting positions also. The more practise the better.

I also like the look of rim highlights when it comes to shading skin :), to see what I mean checkout the mention of it (page 10-12) in the slides from Stylization With a Purpose: The Illustrative World of Team Fortress 2. Hmm, maybe this is a result of indirect lighting, or the way the light scatters on the skin, I'm not exactly sure. edit: This is probably sliding away from what you should be focusing on, but I just wanted to mention them :).

Really running out of time with this, and I have an essay to write for monday as well! So unless there are any super quick fixes anyone can see then this will be the version I'm going to hand in I'm afraid. Thank you for all your help though, and I will certainly be revisiting this thread in the near future for help on other pixel stuff I do in my spare time.

The chin seems to blend into the face and neck despite the exaggerated cleft. That in particular bothers me about the picture, you look rat-faced. If you take nothing else from Opacus's edit, take the way he defines the chin.

opacus is right stop focusing on blending and focus on anatomy, colors and getting that right before polishing it. ive tried that once and just puts more and more work becasue you dont want it out of wack.

your choice of color, is your voice of color
