I think the concept drawings (or were these screenshots?) are very nice. I am searching for a tile pixel editor and somehow found this thread.

happymonster: you should update the first post of this thread - at least give it a big, fat link to http://www.retroidea.com/Pixe/  :)

I'm on 64bit Linux and wasn't able to make 0.4 run in Wine, I hope that it is portable enough for my platform and that you'll some day release the source.

PS: If you still use Excel for brainstorming, I recommend you upload it to Google Docs and share the read-only link here :)

No, this is not dead! ;)  Real life got in the way a bit, but I've been hard at work lately for the upcoming v0.5 release. Still a bit to do on that first! I've added some new features, bug fixes and GUI / interface changes since the last version here.

Here's a (large) screenshot showing the latest version (you will notice some changes from the last screenshot):

The interface is a bit wider to fit in the layers strip and this also means more space for tool options. Generally the GUI is lighter in brightness, with more style consistent icons and anti-aliasing as well as more rounding on interface elements. In this screenshot you can see the optional 3 pane zoom windows (each zoom can be altered individually) ala Dpaint.. :)

With hindsight, it might have been better to start a new thread.. This one is now very large and the title isn't really representative of the project anymore.

I'll do that when I next post an update..

Nice.
Is the image pane below the tools just a preview or a full image editor?
Is the layer count fixed at 8 or does the layer strip scroll?

All the three windows are a full image editor.
As for the layer count, I've not got that far yet!
