Julie & Basile // Updated + WIP.gif

on: November 10, 2008, 01:10:36 pm
Hello guys !
I finally found back my username&password heehee

I can't not realize that the level here keeps going each day more better.
You have made a terrific work for making this place a reference in pixelling,
and i don't see any other place where you get such quality pieces.
All these hours of work for free i ust wanted to thank you for providing such a neat places for users.

Okay that is all for shoeshinin'  ;)

I made that lady last night, with her little companion for a miss i know.
I might change some things, any of you have ideas?

Some one suggested me to remove black outline and replace it by a darker shade but i'm not sure about it...

Edit #1 :

And here's a zoomed WIP for you.

Thanks for reading me

Have a nice day

J

seems off balance, i think you should move her upper body or head back abit so they are situated above her legs. So her body shape would look more like a C than \.

really cool though, I really like the style. : D

i think, judging from the WIP, that she was meant to be a bit off balanced anyways. imo, her pose fits well, especially when she's carrying dog on her head.

I like it. I agree with the off balance though and another thing that gets me is that is has loads of colors and that makes it look a bit noisy

anyway, its still a good piece!
Image size doesn't matter! It's what you do with your pixels that counts!

Yeah, the general pose and off-balanceness is good, but it's rendered an itty-bit too realistically to work with the way she's leaning forward. I'd suggest having her upper body lean back a liittle bit. Don't make her lean back with them legs, backwards bent legs are nice and girly (:

You were totally right guys
I spent so much time straight on it that i had difficulties to look from far
and now you said its it's so obvious !
I backed all a little bit, and moved the gun too.

it is true that a lot colors could be switched
I am working on a lower palette, maybe more NES like.

I might animate it too... how maso is this ! i'll post updates if these are nice.

before / after

Thanks for your useful and precise comments.

i think instead of making her straight, you could have pushed the front leg forwards more and make her stance more interesting that way as well as fix the balance issue.
now that you've made her straight, she looks stiff and hunched over.

I thought about making her leg going foreward as you say alex, but the pose would have maybe look over exagerated.
it was already a lot :)

She looks all hunched up you are right, and that is more what i wanted, like teenager style, like "meh everything sucks"

I Focused on color reduction and i was quite happy with the result, mostly with the 2color version
aah reminds of game boy days !

but i chose to make some mix up with all these versions. (hard right)

I also tried some animation, but it's very early wip. (oops for transparency...)

some bugs to fix
*the gun does not go straight
*the ribbons are wierd
* Basile should maybe have a spitty stance
