That's a very atmospheric palette. Some values are maybe a bit too dark, but that may be just this shitty monitor I'm using atm. My biggest concern is the main sprite who doesn't seem to be paying attention to the monsters and is holding the sword like a rose bouquet with the sharp edge towards himself. Make him hold the sword like he means it (this means you have to create a proper battle stance for him as well) and maybe lose the lineart from the sword as well.

 ::) Thanks JJ Naas. Like I said this in very early stages and I'm not really working to any sort of palette restrictions yet. I look to create a similar atmosphere with less colours once I'm happy and have filled the background. You're right about me giving the character some sort of personality and I laughed at the bouquet comment because it's true.
