Minibot [first Low-Poly Pixel attempt]

on: October 20, 2008, 03:57:27 pm
I don't know what you call 'em, but I finally tried one.

After a few hours(yey, frustration) of fiddling in Anim8or and UV Mapper, here it is.
I wanted to start simple. Made a lot of mistakes; I edited that model and that texture about 6 times and still somehow didn't get it quite right.

Next time, I'll try shading the sides too.

Pretty fun learning experience.

One question; Is it advisable to do this with, say, low-poly spheres?
"Baboy" is Filipino for pig.

Nice, I like it! Kind of reminds me of famicom for some reason.

It certainly is a challenge, I find it hard to keep the pixels lining up.

As for a sphere, it is possible but its especially hard to keep the pixels lining up. I think I used a 24 poly sphere to keep it looking like a sphere but not be too complicated. I'd certainly recommend trying it though!
