Bag Man Walk Cycle

on: October 15, 2008, 06:50:34 pm
Hi !

Well i'm working on a walk cycle of my character, it took me a long time, and this one is the best i did.

I would be happy if you critic it.

Thank you!

Look at the torso of your guy there. Try walking while only moving your arms and legs and not shifting your middle up and down or from side to side at all (or your head for that matter).  Difficult, eh?  :D
His right arm also seems to appear a bit choppy, as it comes forward too fast.
Might I recommend a peek at this fine specimen? -> http://www.biomotionlab.ca/Demos/BMLwalker.html  Also take a look at some sprite sheets of walk cycles from games that have good ones (Spriter's Resource?).  Or you could muck around on this forum, as there's tons of great stuff on walk cycles.   ;)

Lol, I used to know someone nick named bagman.

The floppiness of it is making me recommend you looking at BOBs mario and luigi animations at pixeljoint.

This is probably the weirdest walking animation I have seen.
His hands are opening and closing.

Is he constantly saying No?
Why does every walk cycle have to have a head rotation.
There are no joints it's just rubber.

His left leg (furthest from us) is just kind of kicking out.
With so much movement going on his body just looks like it's hovering there.

Ups, i totally for got to close his hands, wll i'm working on the left leg.

I didn't like the idea of head rotation, but it looks good, i'm thinking of adding up-down movement.

Hey, theres walking animation worst than mine! lol. Souly, I appreciate that you post in my threads ^^.
Does it mean you have interest in the main character & other characters?

I´m going to move his belly.

Thanks for the critics.

you should turn his shoulders a bit and his hip/belly. also the arms look a bit like rubber cause they are arched.
if he is walking, he doesnt bend and unbend his arms. he has them slightly bent, and then they just rotate on the shoulder. dont change the angle at the elbow.
Image size doesn't matter! It's what you do with your pixels that counts!

I worked on it for 2 days, obviously, with in short time xD.

I don't stay happy with the results in the left arm.

It's kind of odd that everything moves except for his torso.

Also, when your left leg is out, it's natural for your right arm to also come out.
Same applies to right leg/left arm. ;)
