Yeah, of course :o I'm getting on that now. And like I said, he "helped" me with the lineart pushing me in this direction (I thought he was nust on some choices) and said that it should be black here, darkest here, lightese here, and middletoned here... I thought he was helping me... maybe he was doing all of the real work (well not acually doing it, but...)

Um, would i be able to participate aswel? I've always wanted to make a fighter sprite, so here's my first ever one, and i thought it was worth joining in.

Ok, and here's the portrait done:

The sprite looks like a female version of Serge from Chrono Cross  :D
... you're right. O: I have my (beloved) Serge figurine sitting right next to me, and I have to say she does! That really isn't a bad thing, though. She's quite awesome nonetheless.

I think I might take a stab at making one of these suckas. >:

cdi: Is it just me or you shouldn't have called him friend???

Some improvement and...

...tried the hand, in a somewhat St0ven-ish style.

All C&C welcome!

Hm ... you're going to hate me saying this, but why are his knees bent like that?  He isn't really about to move or attack, he's just standing still.  Kind of an akward pose for non-action.

VERY quick edit illustrating what I mean so some of the folds on the pants will be off (this is just a guide);

@Filax_666 - yes, but I used it in past tense...

I agree with sonic_reaper. o: It looks less awkward when his legs aren't bent so hard. But it's kinda boring... maybe you could try doing something with the other arm that's just hanging there? ;)

I recognize my pose may not be correct, but your's looks awful, even for a quick edit (no offense, I'm sure you could do better if wasted more time on it, which you don't have to). I may take photos to ilustrate it...tomorrow.
About the arm...I know it's  doing nothing, but I don't really have anything to give him...I may change it's pose afterward though...
At this moment I'm more worried about the hand, could anyone please give some C&C on it?

EDIT:

I know that new hand sucks, but I only spent a minute on it...

EDIT2: Just looked at Stitchy's post again and I noticed what was wrong with both my sprite and your edit...In mine, the legs a bent alot, in yours, the (his) left leg is not bent at all. At first, I tried posing his legs somewhat like this, but it didn't work out...

Ahh, so you wanted him floating? You can actually take lotsa liberties with floating~

I think what would really help this sprite is some dynamic motion. To show you what I mean, I doodled this, as I am not too good at explaining what I mean in words.

This is (pretty much) the same pose you had originally, just from a different angle, and his head is turned slightly towards the camera. I also tried to make his legs not as bent and more relaxed... I hope you can get some ideas from this. :-X

Not to sound like an ass, but if you think his bent-knee pose looks better/more natural, you're just ignoring problems with the sprite that are right in front of you.  You have many options as far as action poses are concerned.  No one said you needed to make a still standing sprite, the options for an action pose are limitless.

I have edited my portrait picture above (in the post).
Cheers for the comments people.

And CDI, tis a shame about the sprite. I'm sure you can rustle up another more original one ^_^
