I'm afraid to say that my favourite version was the one in the OP. Very nice indeed, I don't like it with the shading, it's head looks to shiny then  :)

If I were making this into a game, I would go with as few colors as possible. I liked it in Arnes pallette because there was a simple shading line that brought out the character, so that he would appear on different colored backgrounds. But like I said before, fewer colors the better because you will have to end up animating these things. Though you could get away with 3 frame animations if you tried hard... But whatever... Personally, I do not like the shiny rendering, makes the character less fluffy and more metallic; plus it gives him less character.

I agree with Cure and Krumbs - the first was, imho, best.

In keeping with the low coloredness, but moving into more complex shading than that of the original, however, I would suggest only two shades per color - a midtone and hilight. You wouldn't even need an extra for the red in the ears, it being used so sparingly already.

But for the legs,
why is the near leg and arm shaded darker? Shouldn't it be the other way around?

I liked the original the best, I've edited it using Arne's pallete.
The added sprite is a boss character, I've got a few to sprite, including the Imp's run animation!

HUZZAH!

Ugh, this was hard to animate although, I'm not a good animator!

Any advice would be nice! Sorry, I'm not able to loop it...

Finally, searching through some old program files and found a animation looper!
I'm so happy.

Nice, but a bit dark. I liked the first colours.

I think itīs a bit dark, like Krumbs says. What color you would make the background?
I like the animation  :)

Well, I'm going to make a real quick, 16x16 tileset.
