Recent Pixel-Art

on: August 19, 2008, 03:41:09 am
I used to have an account on here known as MR21, but that username got old and I didn't feel like requesting a name-change since I've been inactive. Hopefully I can get a bit more active here now, though. :]

Here's some recent stuff I've been working on.

Ness:

Some tiles based on Henk's style:

Some more Henk-y stuff (I use some of his stuff for references but I can't do justice to his style :<)

Something I'll probably never finish- I'd like some edits on anatomy and stuff, since I'm awful at that :[

A Landscape I'd like to finish sometime:

Gooper Blooper for a contest: (I'm not really going back to revise this one, since I won and moved on to the next round...maybe someday I will.)

Then, a small Mario Project:

Needs tongue movement

I'm satisfied with the feet on this one, but the eyebrows don't seem to bounce along with the body...any suggestions?

Anyways, it's nice to be here and I hope I can improve my pixel techniques by hearing from you guys...thanks!

the goomba is indeed nice, but the eyebrow looks more like flapping wings than bopping eyebrows...
Nice mario sheet. You're moving the style of "partners in time" to a side-scrolling action, right ? only the running animation might need an rework, as he's clearly "walking fast" rather than running here, which gives surprisingly stretched legs. Make sure the knee si visible, too, or the front leg reads poorly when pointed forwards.

So, maybe make him lean forward a bit more to give more of a "running" effect? And as I stated earlier, I know the eyebrows on the goomba don't work- any suggestions? Thanks for the reply!

as for the eyebrows, you have them raising and falling for every 2 steps - when in reality they should be raising and falling on each individual step.  This should give more of the appearance of bouncing rather than flapping.

on those henk rocks - am I mistaken that those are directly some of his colors as well?

Sorry for the late reply- school just started back up for me. :[

Anyways, the colors aren't the excact ones from his tiles- I picked them based on his. I'm considering changing the top colors as well, however.

Here's another thing I made- it's sort of a tribute to alkaline's piece at Pixel Joint- but with it's own flavor. :P
