Greek/Roman mythology inspired

on: August 15, 2008, 10:39:46 pm
Hello all, joined a while back, but this is my first post.
Im working on a game inspired by Greek and Roman mythology and (but Im not using any exiting myths and stuff). Going for a simple style with no shading, only AAing.

I'm no where near as good as any of you guys so forgive the poopyness ):
I need help mostly with the colors, they just seem so off, and the hair too. But any help at all would be greatly appreciated though.
Thanks.

Good start, looks interesting. The character on the right is suffering some contrast/colour issues, the skin colour being too close to his hair and wings. Even at 2x zoom I can barely tell there's an arm there. You might want to separate the hair from the face with a darker shade.

It seems like there's too much going on in too little of a space. I would try simplifying them a little bit, and bringing more contrast to the important features, as they don't seem to read very well at 1x. Like TomF said, I almost didn't notice the blond guy had an arm there.

i'd consider using a second (darker) shade for the hair, that would be used near hair/skin transitions, e.g. used as a shadow. The hair is a bit "flat" without it.
