Hello pixelationismists, I'm independently working on a game and am on the home stretch with the graphics, here's the platformer main character sprite WIP

I love this run cycle! The animation is amazing, great use of squashe and stretch, and great personality! For my tastes, I would add a bit more contrast to the skin, making that green shade darker. But you have nailed the animation here, I wouldn't touch that.

also, here's a jump version
again, comments appreciated, but the less comments the less I have to tweak...  ;)

6 frames for the run and 7 for the jump is not enough.
Your frames are beautiful but since you skimped on the frames it's hard to read and there is no flow in the animation so hands and feet appear to twitch around irregularly. 
I think you can do a lot better by adding some inbetweens.

You've got some nice stretching and squashing so I'm sure it will look lovely.

hehe. An inhabitant of fribbulus sax looking for revenge ?
- the laser gun seems to disappear when he's jumping
- the head seems to be growing during the fall
- missing a landing frame and you could probably duplicate the "jumping" and "falling" frames for smoother anim (okay, that should be done in the code, but still).

well, anyway, very interesting character design and great cartoonly look, though i wonder who could be his opponents ...

hey, thanks for the link to the Bloogs, I swear I didn't do an edit ;)

the speed of the jump/framerate, I agree there's strobbing/chopiness, maybe I'll tweak the jumping path and arc and fix the wild arm/growing cranium/ (you did mean his cranium not his toothey grin)..but I'm considering keeping the quick jump, rather than a more floaty longer one.
I'm prepared to live with the gun disapearing for now

Well, he's roughly the archetype of a baddie in regular "space explorer", so i'd suggest
a. robots that somehow took control of the place
b. pinky furry things that look awesome cute and decided to make his planet look cute too, but that are unfortunately aliens are allergic to cuteness and all those furry thingies need to be eradicated ... if only they didn't replicate soo far :P (you can go in a gremlin-like scenario where the funny furry pinky thingies were loved by alien kids, but that they appear to turn to blood-thirsty monsters at full moon or something. That'll be more interesting for bosses, maybe)

funny insight PypeBros! I'm actually following the storyline of an RPG game, involving an alien invasion here on earth...but it does touch on the "cuteness-turns-nightmarish" irony...
