Re-spiffying old sprites

on: May 27, 2008, 11:47:04 pm
I’ve gone back to an old game of mine and revamped the whole thing, but I’m having trouble with the graphics. I get to a certain point after clearing up the original line art and such, but once I feel I’ve done all I can do, something still seems wrong. I figured I could get some guidance.

I think it's a space ship. Like, a big one, a capital ship or something. If that's what it was, it'd make a lot more sense in context.

Your problem lies within contrast.

With machines, especially at this tiny size, you must "seperate" each section from another to make it as readable as possible.

Aye damn... ok, well I'll go into detail. its a top down shooter and this particular sprite is a tank, but not your traditional tank. Hell, lets call it a vehicle. It has no turret, it is facing to the right. And at the moment it doesnt feel quite finished to me, render wise. The lineart feels fine however.

If it's not a real tank, then personally I don't see any real problem with it. But again, as Sherman said, this would be a lot easier if we could see the sprite with some of the other graphics from the game.
