The whole idea about pixel art day should be that we do most of the work on that day.
We can't have people giving up tiles etc.

That's why I suggested we make tiles on the 8th
and then downsize all tiles to something like 3x3 and figure out what we can do with 'em during the next step
and then we have a deadline for the final artwork on the 16th or something like that.

Remember that the final artwork will have alot more colors if we don't use a common palette.
8 x 8   times 8 colors = 512 colors
16 x 16 times 8 colors = 2048 colors

Exactly, if we could get as much stuff done on the day itself it'll be great and then a 16th deadline like robotacon says.

I am really really not sure with the downsizing though. I'll summon Ptoing to imagine a coloring scheme for this.

8 colours, almost greyscale, middle 6 colours just have a shift towards red, green, blue, cyan, magenta, yellow a bit.

sounds pretty cool!  I'ma lock myself up in my room and, literary, sacrifice the whole day to the Pixel God on 8th probably . . .  god, if I just have more time!

I wanted to propose a side-competition where we'd be making various Pixel Day-themed T-shirt designs.  we could then wear so prepared shirts and show off in the streets; but it's too late now, I'm afraid.

perhaps we could have a greek olympian god theme??

I have a better idea. Since according to icanhascheezburger.com 8/8/8 is also LOL day. We could also go for a lolcat theme.
