3 cheers for animal cruelty ***FINISHED***

on: April 28, 2008, 06:46:42 pm
Yeah, the joke's been made before, but still...

I'm partly happy with it, partly less so, but I've taken it as far as I can alone so crits will be highly appreciated.  :)

Wow haha. Very fresh colors, which is something i always see in your stuff Trem. I think the bricks on the background distract too much at 1x - it strains my eyes to try to distinguish what they're supposed to be. No crits apart from that. Ace.

i feel like the koopa's eye (and thus head) are a bit too large, but mario has a lovely junior/senior feel to him!  on second look he seems to have no legs whatsoever - a bit of knee might go a long ways there.  Fun stuff!

Haha brilliant!

When i get used to it, it isn't so much of an issue, but the lack of canvas above mario's head is sortof strange at first, imo. But yes, fun and colourful! And gory!

Updated.

Lar: You're a genius. The lack of centralization or focus or something was bugging me, though I didn't realize it. It still needs work, but I'm much happier with it now, overall.

Adam: I tried to improve his legs, and I think it worked for the most part, but they're still not entirely doing it for me. I keep getting closer, though, so I'll work on it. The koopa's proportions were intentional, so I left them as the are. If others find it distracting as well, though... I'm open to opinion.  ;)

ceddo: I left the bricks for now, though I agree with you. Its just that without them, the background's a bit plain, and I'd like to avoid adding colours as much as possible. Again, I'm open to opinions regarding how to fix this...

Nice!

The only crit I would have is mario's face doesn't really look like mario.

The Eyes need to look a little bigger and pupils definetely too small. Nose could probably be a bit bigger also.

It still feels cramped to me - maybe make the canvas bigger still.

Did an edit for your consideration: Red blood and changed a blue to green.

Small edits on the hat, made the arms one pixel thicker, tiny detail to the gloves.
I don't remember the bricks being see through, so I gave it an outline.
Also you had blue AA under the grass, why not just use the red?

I think toning down the saturation of the sky would really help with readability.

You should add those little combo points that fly up when you jump on enemies so we can see how many times he's stomped on that poor thing :p
