Robot Parts

on: April 17, 2008, 04:20:44 am
I was bored, and it's in the middle of exams, so I needed something to fill the few days I had to do nothing:

Nothing really serious, so crit if you;d like, heck, make your own with the base, that'd be rad.

I can't let this thread go without comments.
I like what you've done, I'm a fan of vinyl toys and somehow you've tapped into the look and feel of those.
I dig the beard.
The white robot is the coolest though.

Hehe, I like! :P Very impressive how much detail and personality you squeezed into such a tiny sprite!

Werd, readability is decent too! I can tell that he has a backpack. This is pretty awesome, an intention on making a cute little game? If you won't do it for me at least do it for the lulz.

A little bit moar here:

I think I might flesh this out a lot nicer and try and conceptualize a Zelda-esque game, so some good crits on what I have so far would be nice (I know it's not much now, but yeah)

on the >-facing skeleton, the sword blends in with the head too much, I think. Maybe the eyes could be pushed down a bit in the downwards-facing one, too?
Nice looking tiles, man.
And the first dude, I love the rotation. The hair looks like, 3d 'n stuff.

I gots MORE!!!

Not much this time, but I updated the skeleton animations based on some crits I got, and have devised a slashing animation for the skeleton:

The four dark pixels at the top of the skeletons head were reading as ears to me pretty badly.  I thought it was a panda until i read xion's post.  These are great little sprites though and lovely for 3 frame animations.

total sex, but then....the skeleton looks a little like a dog.  maybe fix up the grin (move the left and rihgt teeth up 1 px so they stop looking like dogjowls) or take out the nose or somethng?
A mistake is a mistake.
The same mistake twice is a bad habit.
The same mistake three or more times is a motif.
