Pixely funness / cleaning out the crap bucket

on: March 29, 2008, 05:37:02 pm
And w/o the bg:

This I just finished a few days ago. I figured I needed to brush up on my overall skill since I haven't been
Pushing my pixels for quite a while; inactive in a sense.

Couldn't hurt to throw my avy(not any more! :P) into the fray as well.

c&c welcomed and appreciated.

Boring, yes, but I have no clue what to add.

I won't be using more than 3 colors for this.

Oh that little ninja dude is about 2½ years old now btw.  :)

Any critique would be wonderful.

  • I feel... Saturated to some degree, out of tone.

I really like the 1st one with the Bg, has a nice 3D feel. Is the last one supposed to be like a robot? Pretty nice work.

He was a bit tilted to me. I fixed his pose up.

Thanks, I Am Uh, glad you like it. To be completely honest, I have no idea what my avatar is, but my brother said it looked like an armless gumby.
It was, at first, just a tiny doodle that I thought could look neat in pixel form.

Oh yes, heh, I thought I had that all fixed up too.  :-[
Thanks for the edit; I had the time of my life trying to get him to stand up straight after mirroring him (and finding out that he was falling over) in an earlier rendition.

After staring at my little forest scene for a while, I thought, "why not blend the colors a little bit?" so, after a bit of tweaking and grafting, I came up with this:

Better, worse?

It looks a lot better, actually.

But the legs blend a little too much with the background. o:

The slight desaturation of the background did wonders for the readability.  :y:
