One day I'll finish something

on: February 05, 2008, 03:07:15 pm
In the meantime, here's a panda.
This will probably work its way into a mockup when I have time.

This is soooo cooooool.  >:D

All i can crit is how his jaw moves (or doesn't) in the idle anim. I'd add a bit of give there, personally.

Argh great stuff.

This is very cool, like all of your stuff in fact :)

Just out of curiousity what do you do for a living? Do you work in the games industry? Also, do you ever plan on releasing some of your abandoned games as it seems like an awful waste when I look at your videos of Chaos Gate and others. I`m sure that there are many people, like myself, that would greatly appreciate a chance to see some of your pixels in action.

If you do not plan on releasing the games would you consider making a video montage for YouTube?

Jason.

Haha, that's awesome. It really bugs me that it's scarf is cut off, though.

I punched up the colors a bit and fixed his scarf when he's running. And I added a ducking animation - fun with motion blur!

Quicksilva: Yeah I'm in the industry, so to speak; I'm the lead artist at Gameloft New York. Part of me wants to release a whole bunch of my old stuff so people can play it, and another part of me still wants to go back and finish them. So we'll see, I guess, haha.

oh hey, you're right around the block from me (or more like a bit past home depot, which is a bit past union which is around the block from me....but it's still within 20 minutes walking)

the only things i have with this piece is that the eyes are freaky (they can't be open?) and the standing back up animation is confusing to my eyes).  I know it needs to be fast, but i wouldn't mind it having some more arm work, or having the actual duck more of a crouch.
A mistake is a mistake.
The same mistake twice is a bad habit.
The same mistake three or more times is a motif.

Cuddly sir, cuddly. I would hug this panda. I like the colors and design. Great animation! I have seen others go with the broken line stumps like you did with the scarf and feet. I realize it may be a stylistic choice, but it always draws my eye in a distracting way. Why not try caping things off? I can tell the eyes are meant to look like they are squinted in a happy way, as in smiling eyes. One way to hit that home is to have a slight arc to them rather than straight line. Thanks for your help, you are constructive and considerate.

Good to hear you`re doing something that you are so good at :) Do they let you use Promotion\GraphicGale or do they use Photoshop? Most companies seem to use the later despite the other two being better suited to pixel art.

Anyway, back on topic. The lastest crouching anim is really nice. Great use of motion blur! You use it very well to convey the action in your images.

Ben2theEdge, I've said it before, you have some mad animation skills.
No respect at all for breaking pixels in two.

But I'm not sure you should use the same motion blur frame twice in the dodge animation.
It makes it look like the head is sucked up in the air on frame 5.

Nice colors btw!

I agreee with robotacon, the blur does not work on the getting back up frame, you need something slower looking there.
There are no ugly colours, only ugly combinations of colours.
