Looking for some help on hair animation.

on: October 15, 2020, 12:45:06 pm
I've been trying to get this pixel art animation looking right for a while.
Any help that anyone can give me would be amazing!
I'm wanting to keep it 16 colors but then I'm running out of colors to do antialiasing and some of it looks really jaggy.
I added an outline to the hair since it was getting lost in the background but I don't think that looks too great so I don't know if there's a better way to do that?

Thanks!

Wow! I don't think it needs any work on the hair...

...perhaps the blinking is too rhythmic(maybe add some filler frames)
I really like it!

Thanks!
Once you pointed it out she is VERY blinky.
I lengthened the animation. Now 1 blink in 36 frames instead of 12.
Its still a bit rhythmic but better?
Now the animation is longer I added in star sparkle as well.
I'm starting to make it a bit too busy which is a problem for me.

Cool! maybe try 24 frame...?

...and star sparkle is a bit much maybe; your scene is already plenty busy. One thing i'd try is switching the bling on the book to also 24 frames. I really don't think you need to change anything else; hair looks great!

The hair looks great and the animation is really nice.

One thing that doesn't look quite right to me is the left hand. It feels like it's missing the middle of each finger between the top two knuckles. I've tried to illustrate what I mean with this edit (I experimented with suggesting fingernails but I'm not sure how I feel about my approach). I also bulked out the palm a little bit.:

This is a really cool piece, though. Looking forward to seeing the next version!

Thanks. My hands are my Achilles heel. I've taken your advice on it. I think these are looking better.
Also I've pared back the length and deleted the flashing stars which were indeed a bad idea.
