[WIP]self portrait style imitation

on: January 08, 2008, 11:21:56 pm
Got a little insprired by willfaulds topic so I decided to try out a style that I always liked.
still wip but just putting it on here for some c+c. I am a bit confused as to how im going to go at the hair since my hair sticks up at the front.

People won't like you. That's what we call an edit. You copy-pasted it and then you changed it.

Redo-it, but now from zero.
My English is poor, sorry about that..

Well I didn't edit the original, all I did was make it a silhouette and do mine over his to keep it in proportion. I might've eye traced a couple of places like the ears and bottom of the nose but the rest is completely done from scratch.

You should start from scratch and try to imitate the style, not just copy it verbatim. Maybe make a different pose and facial expression.

They're not eyeballed, they're carbon copies. It's an edit if i've ever seen one.. even the eye brow has exactly the same shape only it's moved down a bunch of pixels.

Yeah, you pretty much just copied features and stuff, like you're dolling with Indigo as a base.

A good way to copy the style without plain copying would be to do yours from a different angle and a different pose.  Like, a portrait of you looking over your shoulder or something.  You would really learn a lot more about Indigo's style that way.   :y:

Fine.. I'll redo the entire thing in a new pose without silhouetting it...
kinda hard to come up with a pose though since indigo's style doesn't really show all that much of the body. :-\

Would you say I have the style correct however?

EDIT:
very early wip, just as proof that I started this one all custom.

Keep an eye on that hair. The extruded look is pretty important in my opinion.
