I have a small amount of doubts for the BMW GINA. I'm just wondering what will the car owner do, once there's a rip in that strong fabric skin? Will BMW offer "skin replacement" warranty on them? Will car skins be available and cheap to buy in the near future, for any normal consumer? How will the light material hold up to crash tests, and safety marks? This design is definitely very unique, but I think it presents some problems as well. Any thoughts?

I'm in the skeptic boat too. It's a neat idea on paper but looking at the video it struck me as really creepy. Plus the whole issue of whether or not the "skin" works well when put to the test of real life conditions. Also on a side note there's currently other technologies for super lightweight materials that are as strong as steel; the technology is there but car manufacturers aren't keen on shelling out the money to upgrade their factories and re-train their employees.

A mistake is a mistake.
The same mistake twice is a bad habit.
The same mistake three or more times is a motif.

I wonder just how strong the material on that car would be. Strong enough to withstand a nail or a pocketknife?

they've mentioned there are no plans to mass-produce or sell the car.  it was more or less a marketing gimmick for their company - and a sort of path to a new thought process within the company.

as for the hood; we know all cars are female... I guess it makes sense if one has a vagina
