Pixel Paintings

on: December 17, 2007, 01:41:30 pm
hey

I just came across these (what I like to call) pixel paintings and thought yas might be interested.

I ran into them here. On that page you will find links to the pixel paintings of someone known as "8-Bit Artist".

Anyhows that's it.

Seen before, and not too impressed. So far I have not seen any proper pixelart painting, only retro stuff. bah.
There are no ugly colours, only ugly combinations of colours.

Some of Chuck Close's work reminds me of the pixel aesthetic.

Yes indeed, but that's about the only interesting thing I have seen.
I am planning to do some pixelart on canvas, like original stuff, not lol I copy megaman and mario shit, when I have some more time.

That's true but yet again to have the terms 'pixel art' mean yet, yet, yet again 'nintendo worship', gets a little grating.

True, the words 'Nintendo Worship' sound okay to me :D

If I did something like this, which I would be prone to do, I'd call it just that.

Er, so he takes video game scenes and outputs it in painting format?

It doesn't seem right to constrain yourself to a pixel grid wen youve got paints and a canvas

I quite like the idea, but if it isn't an original work i'm not so keen. One day i might try it out with something of mine, just cus... could look cool on my wall.  :B
