Terra Online; Reworking the bases

on: December 15, 2007, 05:02:37 am

An RPG based in the world of Terra.
A project I've been working on for a while.

Just recently installed ADR and I want to start making monsters for it.

Example of the avatars.
Some of you may remember this base.
I have a few clothing sets for this base I've made, but I am having problems with female items.
Not used to drawing females so this is a first for me...

Began to work on some Goblins.

Zombie base

Ogre? Orc?

Generic Mushroom

Cute style, but as was said in another thread, the female form looks more like a continous body part. Redefine her main body and legs so they look atleast somewhat seperate.
I did the same mistake before, I know what it is like now thanks to these dudes.

Aww, these are so cute! ^_^

I think the breasts of the female goblin are not very well balanced. Her left breast appears much fuller then her right breast. Also it's a little off to the side.
Also I feel her torso around the middle could be slightly narrowed a bit.
I believe that's it.

Oh, by the way, your zombie totally cracked me up. I love the look!  ;D

The style and perspective makes it look like they'll be in another crappy flash "MMO".  :-X
it might be a one shot deal

I've never drawn a female.  :(
So this is my first attempt.
I'll see what I can do.

Sorry to ask, but what is up with the resemblance to the gaiaonline avatars and the name terra online? O:

I'm not grumpy over anything, just a bit curious.

I guess you won't change anything at this stage, but the ball/clog-feet are killing the simplistic design. All simplifies body parts have some resemblance of their real counterparts, except for the feet. You also will have big problems designing delightful shoes for non-feet-like feet ):

They don't look anything like Gaia, so dont worry about it soul. Oh, and you should post a link at the top, or in your signature or something.

No resemblance to gaia other then customizable avatars and forums.
The name was chosen a long time ago when all me and my old gaian buddies got sick of how bad gaia had become.
They had gone completely away from the RPG factor of the site which is what we liked about it.

Would you care to edit?

This is what I've come up with
Yes the trees are just copy and pasted.
I more put them there as place holders so I could get an idea for what to do next.

Town's perspective is still iffy but it's coming together.

Working off of a concept sketch drawn for me long ago.

can we AA those lines with a middle-dark so that they actually smooth, or would that be breaking the style you want?  right now the jump is just too far (as im sure you're aware).
A mistake is a mistake.
The same mistake twice is a bad habit.
The same mistake three or more times is a motif.

Well some of the items already have a third shade, so I don't see why the bases can't have one either.
I think the feet are just too small in comparison to the hands. which I don't want to change because I already have item using the hands how they are.

I can't AA the eyes, due to the fact that the skin is customizable.
So if the AA on the eyes matched one skin color, it wouldn't be able to look nice on the other skin colors.
It's sucks, I know but those are my restrictions using the avatar system I'm using.

It's like a paper doll system.
Just layers each item accordingly.

Actually, you still could.
Just have to use AA equal to or darker then the surrounding area at the darkest skin tone.
Oh yes naked women are beautiful
But I like shrimps more haha ;)

Hey Souly, I'm loving this so far! such a ridiculously awesome amount of style to these things!

Did a quick Edit on the female goblin, (I know I broke the style a tad.)

You basically just need to pay more attention to the breasts, hips, shoulders and thighs and accentuate these things appropriately. the rest of the body you can pretty much leave the same.

Evil Shroom is defiantly my favorite so far. Keep it up!

No Problem, glad to help.

I must say i''m not to keen on what you've done with the male figure now, the extra detail works well on the female template (as it highlights and distinguishes) but i think the detail just takes away from the wonderfully simplistic style on the male figure. Maybe just tone down the moobs abit :P.

Anyway, keep it up! I plan play this when its done!  ;)

Well problem is the male base looked way too plain in compairison to the female base.
So I had to edit it accordingly.

I've never done anatomy before.
So I'll see what I can do to the manboobies.

You could create a small accentuation on the chest to display the breast muscles, basing that edit on your initial male version; not this latest edit
