Running animation(let's hope this isn't a fad)

on: November 08, 2007, 09:19:55 am
Well, like I said, been trying a run recently, without success. Taking something from the other topics (zyndicate's, mostly), I again tried a dino sillhouette(sp?) animation.

Here is the body, which I think looks nice:

And with the head, which imo is decent-looking:

Do you think the head looks naturally attached? Is the mass constant all throughout? The more I look at it, the more I pat myself on the back for a good job, but tell me what you think. :ouch:
EDIT:
Tried shading it(lowest one):

Looks a bit flat to me, so I'm stopping here to get some crits.

reminds me of land before time anims I did for the GBC a number of years ago... CERA the triceratops... :S

It's not too bad... not sure I like the colouring, and there's a distinct lack of back legs... (right hand legs...)

Hmm, you suppose I could add a copy of the front legs to the back, shade them darker, and get away with it? ;D

Wouldn't that make it more of a trot though?

Ooooh, ok, I see what you mean.
For the second Cera, are those the same set of leg animations?

How old were you when you made these, man?  :o

If you mean are they the same legs in the walk and run... ? Good question... I can't quite remember... knowing me I'd have probably been economical and used them as a base perhaps...

I did them 8 years ago, 1999 - I was 28/29

hm, I think it just lacks weight, the rhino looks like it can move with a lil too much ease, make him spend more time winding up for the steps than actually making them...it also seems like he's too flexible, he bends his back like he's a cat or something. instead I think he should lean to the sides as he makes the steps.
