Debate: Gil VS NyanNyanKoneko

on: November 18, 2005, 04:32:59 am
This is a debate for candidate Gil versus candidate NyanNyanKoneko.

The staff will be moderating the debate. Gil, NyanNyanKoneko, and the staff have each provided a series of questions. There will be 5 rounds, with 2 questions posed in each round. Each candidate shall post once per round. There is no length limit for responses. Responses should be posed within 1 day, or we'll move on. After each candidate has completed a response for the given round, we'll provide the next round of questions as soon as possible.

Please refrain from posting until the two candidates have completed all questions. Thanks!

Good luck to you two!

Round 1:

1. Why are you running for the position of Daijin?

2. What do you like best about pixeling or pixel art in general?

1. Why are you running for the position of Daijin?

Like all things in life it just came unto me. I was brainstorming some ideas (new commercial critique) and Pep mentioned that if I really wanted some say over the matter I should run. After my good experience as a mod for pixelerate I figured it was time again to give the community something back in return for the awesome years I've had here. I also feel like I've got enough skills and creativity to bring this job to a good end.

2. What do you like best about pixeling or pixel art in general?

One of the things I like most about pixel art is the perfectionism involved. I feel that in pixel art every pixel is a decision made, every pixel matters. I also like the fact that within the limitations set still lies an infinite number of possibilities. I think having colour and size restrictions limits the art, but it also brings out the other elements of the picture. Compare to black and white photography. You lack the whole colour play, but you gain sharpness, emotion and light.

Enough time has elapsed, so Nyan has forfeited the debate. Congratulations Gil.

A pitty it is, I think this could've turned into a nice debate. Thanks for setting this up though Pep, appreciated.
