My first pixels - if you fancy a laugh...

on: September 27, 2007, 12:58:30 pm
Feel free to criticize it and rip it pieces... but I just thought I'd post this as I've just found it whilst surfing da web... I've not seen it in years... and well... it made me cringe somewhat.

Gasp in awe at the sheer lack of dithering skillz... be amazed by the distinct disregard for anti-aliasing... not to mention the total lack of anatomical awareness... <sheesh>

oh... it was on the AMSTRAD CPC464 - hence the mix of 16 color wide pixels and 4 color square...

There's hope for us all...

You know that thread where people were saying that lack of skills sometimes = style?

I want this shit on a t-shirt. It's deliciously flawed. I'm sorry but I'm totally loving it. There's shit like habbo hotel which uses shit pixels and flawed techniques to look retro-ish..

.. and then there's this. The real shit.

I want this on a t-shirt dangit. I'll pay!

(I wonder if this is poo day or something, I'm using the word 'shit' all the time. Hehu.)

Heh, number 18's Kung-fu is strong.

But what really impresses me is how the guy with the mullet is elbowing the gargantuan volley ball behind him--without even looking--whilst simultaneously moving into position to apparently elbow the smaller ball headed towards him.

Anyway, enough shenanigans. It may be bad, but how many people can say they made a real game for the Amstrad?

i've just noticed the Copyright on it... 1987...! 20 years ago...! my god I'm feeling old :'(

Funny thing is i remember exactly where I was when I did this... in my parents garage freezing my knackers off cos it was so bloomin' cold...

I was 16.

I've since learnt that convertion is spelt conversion...  ::)

oh... and another fun snippet... those fellas in the ingame shot... they had a 2 frame run animation! - 1 frame of which was that standing frame you can see there...! Now I WISH I still had those lying around somewhere...

negative two years old here!

this thread makes me happy on so many levels, just like rydin's new avatar

The same mistake three or more times is a motif.

quite an achievement to have been pushing pixels since before half this community was alive, or even concieved or even thought about being conceived.

You know, I feel sorry for these guys.
I mean he's just trying to push a giant volley ball up a hill, and they're getting pumbled to death by spikes of volleyballs to the face.

I thought that pixel art was dead a number of years ago and it made me sad that something I had so much passion about could be considered redundant.

But since Ptoing introduced me to this forum it makes me happy to see the age of the pixel is very much alive... albeit a little bit underground... and I think I prefer it that way TBH...  so thanks to you all for making an old man happy...  and indeed you can teach an old dog new tricks... so there you go... :lala: ^-^

and with that I'll just grab my slippers n pipe and head off to bed...

If I take that picture and remove some of the logo-ness (or maybe I won't, some of the value is in the complete tackyness of the logos and stuff) can I make a shirt out of it? It's so GEEKYSTYLISH! :O (geekystylish is a word.)

TakaM: That's a france headband! D:<

This stuff is so cool.  You have been better at pixel art since before I was born bacca...and I mean that sincerely.

And oh my god, somebody noticed me.  Adarias...so cool to hear such praise from an idol.

This is an amusing thread thanks for sharing Baccaman, it was fun reading this. Hehe imagine that this will inspire a film starred by the guys from Frat Pack. Will Ferrell with the mullet.  :P
