Holy crap. I was able to get an XBox 360.
So, my friend and I pull into the Best Buy parking lot at around 5:20pm. (They, supposedly, had 194 consoles on hand.) We have to walk to the back of the line which is, coincidently, at the back of the building. At around 9:00pm or so, some Best Buy staff start passing out bracelets to those in line. The wearer of a bracelet would be guaranteed a unit. I didn't recieve one. A barrier is created to seperate the bracelet-wearers from the losers. I'm in the loser line... and about 30 people deep.
At midnight, people begin to filter into the store --- very slowly. They would grantfive people entrance, and would wait until every one of them had finished their transaction and had left the store before letting a new wave of cusomters in. At 2:00am, I'm about 6 feet away from the door, and my buddy is in front of me. At this point, quantities are VERY limited and the crowd is on edge and in a pre-riot state. The open the door to let in 6 people, and I make sure to shove him forward and block the people behind me. He gets in and I don't. Hey, at least ONE of us got in, right?
I'm at the front of the door and the manager of the store walks up and says, "Two more." The guy beside me had been there long before me, so I let him go in and, of course, take that second slot. I believe that only six more people were let in before every unit was taken. After waiting for 9 hours, I FINALLY got my console...
I can't wait to put it on eBay!.
