This looks nice, but I think it might be a good idea to implement the lighting in a bit more detail:

This is looking very cool! I second AdamAtomic's comments. Also, I think the ledges that drop into the lava need work. The shading on them seems nonsensical, with blotches of shadow where it just feels like there shouldn't be. As far as I can wager, you'd only have very dim shadows on a face so close to that glowing lava.

Also, your lava sort of looks just like glowing orange water, rather than molten rock. I believe this is because you've used a pseudo refraction effect that one sees often with swimming pools:

Compare with these:

Basically you've got these 2 layers of orange 'nets' of colour, which sort of implies transparency. Lava is certainly not transparent, so you need to remove that layer thats happening underneath that bright orange layer, and instead show dark spots where the lava has cooled slightly.

I think it looks really nice too. Reminds me of Zelda (at least it does when the characters aren't there : )

I partially disagree with the lava comments above though (sorry EyeCraft). The way I see the lava the bright parts are the hot lava and the other parts are the clumps of slightly cooler lava. I agree that there should be some black specks throughout showing where the lava has turned to rock though.

nah, they are dark objects on a light ground that come forward and make the bright look like water underneath.  lava should be the reverse - bright marks flowing out of and around a dark ground.
A mistake is a mistake.
The same mistake twice is a bad habit.
The same mistake three or more times is a motif.

I would be curious to see an example of what you mean by this, as I don't understand it from just reading the above.

I thought the lava looked great until someone mentioned it looked like water, and I agree, this reminds me of Zelda when it is without the characters.

I could be wrong, but perhaps this should have been posted in with the old thread so that it's easier to compare and critique.

There seem to be some really nice improvements and you've taken on board a great deal of the suggestions made. The lava looks hot (yeah, bad pun) and I think the colours are nice and vibrant--just what I like to see on a mobile game.

For me, the only downside is the size of the player character (the char at the bottom). You might be wanting to give some proportion to the enemies, but it just seems like the player is smaller (I haven't counted pixels, but it looks like they're all the same height in pixels) and therefore less dynamic.

Merged :)
There are no ugly colours, only ugly combinations of colours.
