I quite enjoyed the finder theme song. :D

I'm not going to pretend this is a small task either; certainly none of us here can claim to have accomplished it.  it's the realm of masters.  still, it's what we all have to try for.

I was admiring these screenshots for Simon the Sorcerer. I remember discussion about index painting, was this used in this case? I can't believe someone made somany backdrops
for this game, even if they did recylcle trees sometimes.
Modern artists are told that they must create something totally original-or risk being called "derivative".They've been indoctrinated with the concept that bad=good. The effect is always the same: Meaningless primitivism

Looks like a good amount of indexpainting with pixel finish here and there. I am almost certain there is automatic aa, brighten/darken, blend and so on going on in many places. But yes, good work, a bit overaaed, which prolly is due to auto aa.
There are no ugly colours, only ugly combinations of colours.

Simon has some of the best Dpaint pixel art in video games. Overaa yes, but I don't see auto-aa really. I see discrete ramps.

i am sure there is blur going on, which adds autoaa. Also in later versions of Dpaint you can clamp the palette to only use colours you want to. So colours used for aa can be reigned in quite easy. This feature I hope we will get in PM6 as well, it's useful for some other stuff too :o

Yeah that'd be totally useful. Don't forget that Simon wasn't made with high-tech tools though. The people that made it were just masters. They can do what you're looking at on the first version of Dpaint.

to me these shots suggest a skilled artist working under time constraints (and getting a bit formulaic/sloppy in his blending).  If i remember too those old screens were none too kind to edges (made them supersharp), so it could be that this was an attempt to address what is no longer an issue?

impressive implementation of value keys with the subtle shifts from high to middle and extended middle major.  really helps set the mood individually.
A mistake is a mistake.
The same mistake twice is a bad habit.
The same mistake three or more times is a motif.

What? If anything older screens were blurrier. And many people played Simon games on Amiga, plugged into TV sets. Blurrrdomville.

Like me. And afterwards I was totally surprised of how jaggy the graphics where, when playing on an emulator. Some games looked better blurred. On Simon my fingers are itching to introduce some sort of a hue shift to the green rocks.
