At this moment, the forum's total topics number 4444, and the total posts number 62226.

Just because I'm cool like that.

Here's an idea for a topic. You know how sometimes you see someone's pixel art, and you really like the concept but you want to redo the whole thing. So its not like an edit at all. And it wouldn't be
appropriate to post in their topic, because it doesn't help them. But its not appropriate to post by itself, becuase you've stolen the concept. So idea for topic is one where you can post pictures you've made where you 'pimped' someone else's concept. Anyone else think this is necessary?

EDIT: one rule would be you have to ask the original artist's permission before posting/creating.

Modern artists are told that they must create something totally original-or risk being called "derivative".They've been indoctrinated with the concept that bad=good. The effect is always the same: Meaningless primitivism

I've actually been thinking about that idea for awhile. I just didn't want to step on anyone's toes if I tried to "pimp" their original pieces (not that what I can do is any better, mind you...just would have been cool to see someone else's take on one person's idea.). But yeah, something tells me someone will get offended, most likely being indirectly, not directly.

I've actually considered opening up a new topic also, but felt it too might be pushing the boundaries a bit. I was thinking in the general section, maybe an ancestry/family background thread could be made. I know there's the introduction thread, but this could be more detailed accounts of your ancestors, and parents(no last names are to be required..that's private.) It could have all sorts of info, like how our family came to be, and things regarding our anthropology and such. Who knows, we may even find some long lost links between some members!(not that this would inhibit any one physically meeting. Just informational.) However, the only bad part is some people would rather keep their personal lives hidden, due to bad memories and such, which is fine. Still though, there is some rich, diverse culture going on in the pixel art world, and it would have been interesting...

Um, this idea basically sounds like a fan art thread, only it's focused on other members as the source for inspiration. Sounds cool. I'd actually like to take a jab at some of Mr. B.O.O.B.'s fighter sprites.

I think it will work as long as we show some decorum and send a PM to the victim before we start refactoring their work.

Do you PM victims before you attack them in an Avatar war?  ;)

Any one here know of some great comic book artists? I was googling some, like the likes of Frank Frazetta, and Burne Hogarth, but felt there were some other great illustrators out there. Anyone have any suggestions?

I've always liked John Romita Jr. Has a nice Jack Kirby-esk blockiness to his anatomy, but it's a bit edgier and rough. Some of his published work also suffers from some of the same problems that Kirby's did, in that the art could either be enhanced or butchered based on who's inking it. I think Al Williamson was probably the one inker that really translated his drawing perfectly into ink.

Art Adams is good too. He's pretty much on the opposite spectrum from JRJR--he's got a really rounded, clean, highly polished style.

You might also dig Doug Mahnke, the horror/monster stuff he inks himself is topnotch.
